We really don't know what the water quality is as we travel; even within our immediate areas. Rocky Mountain Readiness has a complete line of Berkey Water Purifiers and filters here.
Why You Need a Travel Water Filter

If you’re planning a trip or vacation, having access to safe drinking water can be a challenge. Tap water in many countries can contain disease causing contaminants, largely due to inadequate water treatment, sanitation and hygiene. The Centers for Disease Control recommends that international travelers consider “portable hand-pump or gravity-drip filters with various designs and types of filter media. “(1) NMCL offers Berkey® systems that are ideal for travel – compact, portable, gravity-fed, and rigorously tested.
What makes the Berkey the ideal travel water filter? The key is our Black Berkey® Purification Elements which filter water down to the viral level, while still allowing beneficial minerals to pass through. The Black Berkey® Purification Elements have been tested to remove viruses, bacteria, cysts, parasites, DBP’s, THM’s, VOC’s, Heavy Metals and much more. Several independent lab tests demonstrate the effectiveness of our Black Berkey® Purification Elements at removing these potential contaminants.
What are my Berkey options for a travel water filter?
- The durable stainless steel Travel Berkey® holds 1.5 gallons of purified water with two Black Berkey® elements. Once dismantled the top tank can be stored inside the bottom tank along with the filters and tap, which can all be removed to make the system even more compact.
- The Go Berkey® Kit contains a one quart water stainless steel unit with one Black Berkey® element, and a Sport Berkey® Water Bottle. It is lightweight, convenient, and extremely portable, with easy assembly and disassembly.
- If something more portable is needed, the element inside the Sport Berkey® 22 oz. Water Filtration Bottle will remove up to 99.9% of toxic chemicals, heavy metals, pesticides, unpleasant tastes and odors, cloudiness, silt, and sediment, and will filter as you drink.
